I obtained the KDL-52W5100 about 2 weeks ago. It changed a KDL-52V5100 that I acquired in March, which changed an older Sony Hi-Def LCD rear projection 1080i adaptation (KDF-60XS955). The KDL-52V5100 used to be great in the beginning, however it had an awfully aggravating dimming downside that Sony ultimately fastened with a firmware replace. The drawback was that the firmware update then broke the audio for me. The audio would reduce out once or twice an evening on all HDMI inputs. Tried new cables, new Dish receiver, the complete lot. They at last, after weeks of combating with them, sent me another KDL-52V5100 which then had the identical downside. Sony used to be superb about taking care of me with these issues, as quickly as I got a hang of the proper individual. Before that, they give you the run around and are willing to let your brand new TV take a seat in a restore store for weeks whilst you wait for it. I can be keeping the contact titles/numbers/email addresses for future reference. It?s superb how quick your issues get addressed for those who e mail the Vice President of purchaser provider for North America in an instant at his precise private e-mail address! :-) They finally, just 2 weeks in the past replaced it with this TV. The KDL-52V5100 had a perfect image (when I wasn?t having issues with it) however this TV operates very no longericeably higher! I have used it with an XBOX360, a PS3 and with Dish Network Hi-Def receiver/DVR. The same outdated def is better than most of the different LCD?s I looked at but as with each one can find the flaws of the SD image. This one seems to be better than most for SD though. It also doesn?t have the HDMI shade area difficulty that the KDL-52V5100 had with my XBOX360. I precisely have it set to Y?CbCr and it seems AMAZING! The PS3 additionally appears INCREDIBLE! This TV had the entire features I wished and has delivered better operateance and movie than are expectinged. This TV does have now noticeably higher image quality than the V series. The distinction is best (possible due to the Bravia three engine versus the Bravia 2 engine in the V series) and there are extra developed features for scene choice and different video options. Plus the Xross media bar menu gadget is WAY better than the undeniable standard menu within the V collection. It looks to be extra customizable. The internet connection, DLNA and widgets are just a bonus for me.

Full Disclosure: I personal the Sony KDL-52W5150 which is an idential TV to the KDL-52W5100.

My Sony 52 inch W5150/W5100 is a thing of beauty! The photos are wonderful and it seems great in the living room additionally. My outdated 60 Hz Sharp 46 inch cannot evaluate to this TV on the subject of deep blacks and movement image high quality. Its specs are just like way more dear XBR9 except for for 240 Hz refresh charge.

First, the pictures are wonderful! The blacks are so ridiculously black? my largest pet peeve on a HDTV is the greyish black when there is imagined to be a black againground on some older TV?s. You would not have that drawback with this TV. This TV has Bravia Engine three (Sony?s latest video processor) and has a a hundred and twenty Hz refresh fee. Inbetween those two, the movement judder that I used to peer on my outdated Sharp TV all the manner through fast motion scenes in movies or sports are gone. All I see is smoothe movement which is a factor of magnificence. Once you flip off the ?Vivid? colors mode, the colors seem actual and true to lifestyles. I simply adore it. In truth, my wife advised me how she no longericed for the first time all the elaborate small print of the make-up on the TV news anchors? faces. That?s excessive image high quality.

Second, it seems great in the room. I love the Sony light that comes on on the bottom heart of the bezel when the TV is on. (In fairness, my spouse hates it so be mindful that every one or most late edition Sony HDTV?s have this feature) And it appears to be like great whether or not it is on or not? displaying the deep blacks and the wealthy colours. It actually does turn out to be the heart of your family/living room entertainment. Some favor the touch of shade from Samsung? I favor the all black look of my TV.

Look.. all of the prime TVs from Samsung, Sony, Pana and so on.. are all so shut in picture quality that you?ll completely no longer go mistaken with any of them. So what sets them aside? the extra options and how useful they?re.

I used to be changing my previous Panasonic $5K 42? plasma bought about 7 years back. Its going to the bed room. So I first tried the Samsung LN52B750.. wonderful picture high quality.. yup its better than even this Sony fifty twoW5100 . Now, in these dayss age, you predict very excellent pic high quality in each TV. So what are you searching for in the TV lately, further options, internet connectivity, capacity to move pics, video out of your computer ( DLNA) , Netflix, Blockbuster connectivity for movie circulateing and many others. But I used to be very upset with the extras on the Samsung. The response on the far flung was slugggggish and slooooow. I had to press some keys like three times ahead of I can get it to work. I was getting pissed. I went to the save, talked to Samsung. They kept on announcing, pic quality yada yada yada. I informed them.. guys, I am shopping for a $1700 TV for just pic high quality however far extra. I received the Samsung for $1700 with a free Samsung blu ray participant ( $200 worth).

So I began reading all the evaluates more in moderation on the different stuff except for image high quality. Sony W5100 had first rate overviews on pic quality and good overviews on its other options. So after I went back to frys..They had 52W5100 for $1299. I noticed the 40? adaptation on display and althought.. what the heck let me do this out.

So I offered this TV home, however both side via aspect and fliped the TVs on. The Samsung image contrast used to be better.. however Sonys used to be now nothing to sneeze either. It was beautiful darn excellent.
