Victims, both residential and commercial, of flooding that has hit the Fraser Coast in the past two months can attend an insurance seminar. Robyne Cuerel

INSURANCE seminars are being held in the Fraser Coast to assist people experiencing difficulties or who are in dispute with their insurance companies over claims stemming from the recent floods.

Fraser Coast small business, manufacturing and service industry Councillor Chris Loft said the seminars were open to residents, businesses and primary producers.

He said representatives from the Insurance Council of Australia and the Financial Ombudsman Service would attend the events.

Both will be held at the Maryborough City Hall on April 4 from 1pm to 3pm and from 6pm to 8pm.

The Insurance Council of Australia is the representative body of the general insurance industry in Australia.

The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) is a not-for-profit external dispute resolution scheme that provides free services to consumers - including some small businesses - who are unable to resolve disputes with financial services providers that are members of FOS.

Cr Loft said the seminars could prove valuable for many people in the region.

"I urge businesses and residents who are having difficulties with their insurance companies to attend the forums," Cr Loft told the Chronicle.
